Mar 9

Hello All,

I hope this short note serves to clarify all the controversy surrounding the new Vega NorthAm tires that MSOKC will be using during the 2005 season. In a March 1st posting we informed the membership that, "Again this year the club spec tires will be the same we used last year, that is the Vega Blues (SL-5) … The tire compound is the same in both the SL-5 and the NorthAm... " . We would like to make a correction to this statement and clarify our intent.

This year (2005) the club spec tires will be the same we used last year, that is the Vega Tires. All classes will use the new Vega NorthAm except the 125cc Shifters which will use the Vega XS (Whites) tires. In an attempt to improve the consistency and wear performance over last year's Vega SL-5 (Blue), the manufacturer of the Vega Tires has made the following changes and incorporated these into a completely new tire called the Vega NorthAm.

The changes include:
· The carcass (shape) of the front tires will resemble that of the front Vega XS (White).
· Enhanced, slightly harder compound (4pts higher on the durometer reading over SL-5).

These changes produced a better tire with much superior wear consistency and performance. The manufacturer of the Vega Tires would like for all MSOKC members to be clear on this; as stated before this is a completely new tire designed and produced using the latest technology in karting tires. The new Vega NorthAm is designed to eliminate any wear inconsistencies that previously existed in the Vega Blue (SL-5).

To all returning members that still have SL-5 tires from last year, those will be allowed at club races. For those concerned with being at a disadvantage when using one tire over the other (i.e. NorthAm vs. SL-5), the Vega importer has stated that the performance of the two tires comes to a level playfield after initial break in. As before, it is recommended to heat cycle new tires as part of the initial break in cycle. We apologize for any inconveniences this might have caused you as it is our intent to keep the membership informed about all the events, changes, etc. RAZ (3/8/05).
Mar 8 The next BoD meeting will be on March 17 at Infonetics.
A free Introduction to Karting seminar will be held on April 9 from 10am to noon. Details are available at www.KartspeedU.com.
Mar 1

MSOKC is now taking PRE-ORDERS for TIRES.

Again this year the club spec tires will be the same we used last year, that is the Vega Blues (SL-5) for all classes except the 125cc Shifters which will use the Vega Whites (XS) tires. To keep the excitement going this year, the manufacturer decided to change the name of the Vega Blues (SL-5) to the Vega NorthAm, so when you buy your new tires "PLEASE" do not be alarmed . The tire compound is the same in both the SL-5 and the NorthAm. So if you still have tires from last year these will be allowed in club races.

The cost of the tires will be as shown below:
Vega Blues
4.50 - $31.25
6.50 - $36.25
7.10 - $38.75
Vega Whites
4.60 - $37.75
7.10 - $42.25
Note: prices good only to MSOKC Club Members

To Order your tires contact Roberto Zayas at: (614)890-7752 (home) Email: robertoazayas@yahoo.com

There will be a informal membership meeting at 7pm, Wednesday, February 23 at Planks on Broadway in Grove City for new and veteran karters to socialize and discuss the upcoming season.

The next BoD meeting will be Thursday, February 17 at 7pm at Infonetics in Grove City.
The BoD will welcome entrants in the Briggs Animal Senior class at a 350lb minimum weight.
